AI is certainly impacting SEO, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. To be clear, AI is in no way replacing SEO. The prevalence of AI is simply changing some aspects of SEO and reinforcing others. There is always talk about the current state and future of SEO, and AI is just the current supposed nemesis that may take it down (FYI: AI is not undermining SEO). Learn more about how AI impacts SEO and find out how to ensure your site performs well.
Know Your Audience
Humans still conduct searches. Effective SEO provides an answer to the questions or queries people type into a search bar. Your site needs to provide an answer to these questions if you want it to rank. AI isn’t replacing SEO or making it obsolete – it is simply providing a method to generate content.
Get down to the basics of SEO, because things like metas and keyword density matter. AI isn’t going to replace you, but it can help you.
What You Can Do
Evaluate your keywords and potential keywords. Determine what keywords you currently rank for, and perhaps more importantly, identify relevant keywords that are not part of your SEO strategy. You want to continue to support existing ranking keywords, but expand your keywords and create content around these potential terms.
Hop onto Google Search Console and look for pages that are losing rankings. Improve the SEO on these pages by adding updated content, adjusting alt tags, or taking care of any other SEO needs. Establishing a ranking is hard work, and maintaining it requires effort and ongoing maintenance. Use the tools available to determine what parts of your site are most in need of maintenance.
Valuable Content Still Provides Value
Search engines prioritize high-quality content. It comes back to answering users’ questions and providing them with a response to the question or terms they typed into the search bar. How that content is created and finalized is a matter of preference. Quality content helps you rank high and maintain your position long-term.
Remember to EEAT
You are an authority in your field, and your expertise matters. Showcase your knowledge in the form of valuable content to demonstrate to search engines that you know your stuff. Search engines will reward you with impressions, which, if you took care of basic SEO, will translate into clicks.
Be Mindful of How AI Impacts SEO
There’s no denying that AI impacts SEO. Consider AI another resource, but be smart about how you use it. There are limitations to AI, so oversight by a human is always necessary.
